John Wuthrich
John started his career in 1984 in Muncie and then moved to Florida in 1986 and worked under a much respected hairstylist from Philadelphia and learned a great deal about hair cutting and coloring. In 1987 he bought a small salon in Muncie then moved to Ball State's campus in 1989 and changed the name to John Jay & Company. He had 10 stations and kept very busy with Ball State students and faculty. In 1995 he merged with another salon and moved to the location we are currently operating in the Lynden Brook Plaza. In that year he married his wife Julie who has a great influence on the style of the salon and helps in administrative decisions. She is the buyer for the clothing items that are for sale in the salon. John still loves what he does which is why he still works behind the chair 6 days a week.

Being owner, wife, and mother of two beautiful children, Julie truly loves what shes does. Being able to provide great fashion for her clients, as well as making sure everyone has a pleasant and relaxing experience at John Jay & Co. Salon. Truly are very thankful for our loyal clientele and creative staff, Julie doesn’t label her career as work - it's her passion. She absolutely loves going in to the salon everyday, because she's able to touch a person's life in a positive way and build their confidence. Over 25 plus years I've been making people look their best by thoroughly understanding what my clients want with skill and technique. I was a salon owner for over 10 years. The success of my craft comes from my natural talent and self assured style. I'm a master hair designer/ advanced color artist, make up artist and educator of this ever changing beauty world. I've trained and educated with highly skilled artist from Nexxus international, Loreal, Wella international, and JKS international. I've also attended various teaching conventions and knowledge lab classes in several states. Las Vegas, NV was my home away from home and that is where I did "cutting edge" work. Ricky Fleckinger
Ricky moved to Muncie around 30 years ago right out of collage with a Computer Science degree. Ricky worked at Borg Warner for 25 years until Borg Warner closed its doors in Muncie. He was always interested in a profession as a hair stylist. Ricky finished cosmetology school with high honers. He was very respected by his instructors and clients. Ricky now works at John Jay & Co. Salon. Ball State University made 3 documentaries on him. Ricky has been featured in a newspaper, magazine, and also on t.v. He takes a lot of pride in his hair professions as a stylist. Ricky is a very well dressed male with a great attitude and a warm smile.

Joann Ware
Joann began her career in Muncie at Talk of The Town, which became John Jay & Company. She has been at this location for over 20 yrs. Joann graduated from PJ's Beauty School . She also try’s to attend new classes on hair color, hair cuts, anything pertaining to hair. Joann is also a nationally certified massage therapist. Joann’s goal is to make you feel great and look great.

Kristen Cook
Kristen began her career at The Salon Professional Academy in 2010 where she learned the importance of being a "Top 20" stylist. She graduated as a level 3 and was a student educator. Kristen started working at John Jay & Company shortly after graduating. She is very passionate about her work and plans to continue taking many classes to learn more. Her services include hair styles, hair color, and hair cutting, special occasion up do’s, feather extensions, and eyelash tinting. Kristen’s goal is to make every client feel better about themselves by the time they leave her chair.

As a previous salon and business owner, Punky brings to John Jay and Company years of experience and expertise. From highlighting, coloring, to hair cutting she brings in her years of training from various platform artists and specialty schools. She is also a certified lash extension artist, Punky offers a full salon experience.

Brian Moore
Brian started his professional career at John Jay & Co., after graduating from PJ's Beauty Collage of Cosmetology in 2007. His love for hair color stems from extensive years as an artist. His knowledge of color theory gave him an edge in beauty school and at John Jay & Co. where his creativity flourishes. Brian has continued his education with many classes from Paul Mitchell, Redken, Matrix, GHD and more. His latest achievement was becoming a color educator for JKS International Color. He also is certified for Coppola's Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy System. Brian believes everyone should and can have beautiful, shiny, soft hair, including you!

Veronica has been a stylist for John Jay & Co. for over eight years. She specializes in coloring, cutting, and bridal styling. Veronica is also a certified eyelash extensionist and air brush make up artist. Her love and passion for this industry is shown through her enthusiasm and creative approach to her work.

Kim Koons
With years of education, training, and experience behind the chair, Kim loves this profession and the relationships that develop with clients and coworkers. Hopefully everyone leaves feeling great and has the haircut and color that they asked for. She and John have worked together for over 20 years, which feels like family now. Kim hopes her talent is as great as her humor (because she thinks she’s funny).

When calling John Jay & Co. Salon you’ll hear the bright cheery “It’s a great day at John Jay” greeting. That would be our bright and cheery Carrie. Front desk receptionist is just one of the many hats Carrie wears, Having been apart of the team since 2001 she has developed wonderful relationships with all of our clients, and makes their time at the salon a pleasant experience. We all depend on Carrie to make our day a bit easier and more pleasant.

Mindy is a graduate from P J's Beauty College. After graduating, her first interview was with John Jay & Company. She has been with John Jay & Co. for 8 years. Since then Mindy has taken many classes to further her knowledge in hair color, cutting, and styling. Mindy specializes in curly hair, and has naturally curly hair herself. She truly understands how to style and cut curly hair. She really enjoys a challenge, so come in and let her help with any problems you might have.

Kathleen (Kat) began her career in 1985 as a graduate of Ambers Beauty School . She worked as a recruiter for a salon based out of Ohio . While with that company she became a regional educator. That position took her to many places and allowed her to train with top educators from Redken, Matrix, Loreal, Swartscoff, TiGi, and Bedhead. For the last 7 yrs she has blended her talent with the exceptional talents of John Jay & co, and she welcomes you.
Sam Bell
Samantha (Sam) started her career at John Jay and Company in September 2009 after graduating from P.J.'s College of Cosmetology. Prior to attending PJ's Samantha attended Ivy Tech Community Collage. While in cosmetology school Samantha discovered that she has a strong affinity for nail design. She centered her studies around that and has since developed her talents to the point that she is one of John Jay's top nail designers. While Samantha specializes in nail design, she is very versed in hair styling, cutting, and coloring. She also enjoys working with wedding parties and doing updo’s.

Jeff Newton
Jeff has been in industry for 13 years, and has trained with some of the elite professionals such as Ruth Roche, Sam Villa, Martin Parson, and Dale Lovell in Las Vegas, New York City, and Cancun. Jeff knows it’s important to stay current for today’s client’s needs, but also keep some “Blasts from the Past” in your tool belt! Jeff’s expertise includes Hair Color Techniques and Formal/Bridal Hair Styling. In 2010, Jeff moved to Nashville, Tennessee and worked at a high end hair salon working with clients from the CMA Awards.
